The new album One Way Love Songs is done recording.  It was really just Lindsaye and Richard locked in his apartment for six days.  It sounds good, overall.  Watch for it on Judah in April or May.  We'll be off till then getting the record done.
Yessssssssssssssssssssss.

So its about damn time that Love Me Hate Me is done.  Its going to be coming out october 25th on Judah.  It took effing forever in post-production, though it seems to be nicely done.  The next album is already written, and some of the songs are demo-ed.  It should be recorded by January or so and (hopefully) out for public consumption by March-ish.

On a less business-like note, Rafe Halstead, our bassist of almost two years is moving away (to Vegas nonetheless).  This makes us all sad.  We will probably find someone else to play for him when we do one of the rock sets.  The new sets, however, will mostly be Richard playing with his guitar and ipod.  The new album One Way Love Songs lends itself to this nicely.

We're in the process of finishing up Love me Hate me.  Also, check out This Akward Saw for a review of one of the tracks off of The State of Things.

So we just had Christa P come to LA to record the female vox for Love Me/Hate Me, our new record.  We also played a great show, THANKS FOR COMING everyone.  It was rad fun for me to share the stage again with Christa.  Also, we shot a video for Ahead of Ourselves, one of the tracks off the new EP.  Wessy D directed it for us, he's a champ.  You can see tons of pics of the shoot at the pictures page

Love me/hate me is about a boy and girl who are lonely, and they meet.  They do the relationship thing all wrong, then they have to live with the consequences.  Behind every cheezy love story are real, long-lasting ramifications.  Samples are coming soon.

Yes, yes.  There's the new record we're going to be debuting at the Universal Bar.  Travis is back in the band.  Soundtracks:  Larkshead Society and Chronicle Project AIDS Documentary.  Black out the windows, it's party time.

Much exciting stuff has been going on for bdo.  First of all, we released our first full-length, The State of Things.  It's been receiving great reviews and great reaction from almost everyone.  The next record, Love me, Hate me will hopefully be unveiled on the 19th at Universal.  That's right, a set of completely new music.  It's a story of a horrible relationship between a boy and a girl.

Listen for us on Little Radio, a pirate internet station.  We'll be guests in the studio Monday, July 12th from 8-9.  We'll be playing shit from our new record and talking about influences and promoting our shows and all that.  Listen to us baby!

Hey you... The record is done, we're just getting it printed up now.  We're going to have a CD release in August.  It will be off the hook.  I can't wait.  Man, the tension is building.  I can't stand it.  My pants are wet.  You love it.  Yes?

Q:  You haven't been updating your recording progress!  Get with it!
A:  OK, how's this for progress... We're done tracking, we're now mixing and mastering.  We're shooting for a late July, early August release date for "The State of Things."  It has come out very nice and will boast guest vocals from superstar producer Mike Busbee, rock legend Kemble Walters, and karaoke diva Jesse Konk.
A sample or two will be available soon.

Q:  What's going on with the recording?
A:  We have drums and bass done.  We're doing guitars and vox starting tomorrow.  Hopefully we'll be done tracking by next weekend, at which point we will scurry to get as much post production done before Travis leaves California on the 11th of June.  Yes?

Q:  When is the record going to be done?
A:  The sad truth is that we're planning on starting today, hopefully it will be in the can within a month.  Then it'll be a bit of post production for a mid-summer release.  Hopefully it will be worth the wait, but maybe not.

Q:  What happened to your show on the 20th of May?
A:  Books Died On would like to apologize for any inconvenience the cancellation caused you, our friends and fans.  The circumstances were beyond our control.  Thank you for understanding.

A conversation with a concerned fan:
Q:  If you guys are Christians, why do you cuss so much in your music?
A:  Um, why shouldn't we?  Are we not allowed to use the vernacular of the day?  Especially when we use them intelligently, with a point?  We try to speak in the clearest possible language for the audience we play for.  Saying 'fuck' three times on a record just could be one of those ways.

Q:  You're stooping to the level of 'the pagans' when you use that language. (?!?)
A:  You may be better than everyone else, but we're sure not.  And furthermore, if the lack of the use of the word 'fuck' or 'shit' is the only thing that differentiates your life from that of the 'pagans', then how the hell can you see around that log?

Q:  Well, Christian bands don't talk like that. (?!?)
A:  Fine then, we're not a Christian band.  But we're all think Jesus Christ is the Shit.

Other Questions:
Q:  How do you feel about sex outside of marriage?
A:  How do you feel about swimming outside of water?

Q:  How can you guys be so narrow minded and fundamentalist?
A:  According to your world-view, wouldn't my opinion be as valid as yours... dumb ass?
(the following conversation is cut/paste from a conversation I had with a good friend of mine, and 'dumb ass' is used as a term of endearment, not in a derogatory sense, he is by no means a dumb ass (except for that one night at the Ritz, that was awesome)).  We apologize if this was not clear from the tongue and cheek nature of this page.

Q:  Do you want a tambourine player for your band?
A:  No, evidently we already have one.

Q:  Is Angela still in the band?
A:  No, she's not.  She felt that God had other things for her to do with her time, and we totally support her in that decision.  We'd all like to work together, but, of course, what God has in mind for us is far more important than what we've got going on, and we love it.  We parted totally clean and on very good terms.  There's a very good chance you'll see her at some of our shows here in the L.A. area!

Q:  What are some of the ideas for the next BDO concept albums?
A:  Well, trying to not give too much away, or getting some good ideas stolen, there are two more in the works.  The first is a horrid love story that will be mostly dialogue between the male and female character.  Richard wants to work with Christa Palazzolo, but she's in Austin, Tx and he's in California.  Also, there's one in the works about a clone child in the future, who's destined to die when his kidneys are harvested on his 15th birthday.  Killer.

Q:  So, is Books Died On only going to do concept albums?
A:  Um, yes, that is the idea.  Except for the Summer and Fall EP that may be released.  It's a bunch of songs we recorded a couple of years ago.

Q:  Who are you going to vote for in the upcoming presidential elections?
A:  Well, that's really none of your business is it?  But, if you must know, Books died on is endorsing Leslie, from Austin, Tx.  Yes, the homeless/pervert/transvestite is about as sensible an option as the buffoons who will be on the ballot in November.

Q:  How did the first show go?
A:  It went very well thank you.  The kids were on (for the most part) and we're working on a uniform.  You have any ideas?  The venue was a little awkward, and the audience was less than our target audience, but all in all it was a good christening of BDO.

Q:  Where does the name books died on come from?
A:  The name Books Died On comes from a reference in the Ray Bradbury book Fahrenheit 451.
